La Colombe d’Or Hotel is one of our favourite luxury hotels in Texas. Nestled in Houston’s Montrose neighbourhood, it occupies a modern mixed-use high-rise and a 1920s Mansion. Taking cues from the original La Colombe d’Or Hotel, Rottet Studio revived the mansion with a vintage French aesthetic. On the other hand, the new build features a much more minimalistic modern design.
The 32 exquisite guest suites are spread across the mansion, the tower, and the garden bungalows. We particularly like the mansion suites, which showcase an elegant mix of old-world charm and modern sophistication. Each named after a prominent artist, they are outfitted meticulously with antique furniture, restored parquet floors, and curated artwork and objects.
Besides, the hotel boasts a range of facilities including an outdoor pool with skyline views, a modern gym, a social lounge, and multiple gardens. There is also a restaurant and a bar on site. Tonight & Tomorrow celebrates French bistro cuisine, while Bar No. 3 serves a selection of vibrant drinks.
Hotel 1928
Hotel 1928 is a discreet luxury boutique hotel in Waco, Texas. Opened in late 2023, the hotel brings an Art-Deco glamour to a 1920s Moorish Revival lodge. The 26 guest rooms and suites are chic and minimalistic, all featuring a subtle neutral, and wooden palette. Despite opting for a more simplistic design, they are all outfitted meticulously with furniture from local vintage store Period Modern. You will also find elevated amenities such as Thuma bedding with Parachute linens, Tivoli alarm clocks, and Le Labo toiletries.
The showstopper of the hotel is definitely its idyllic outdoor pool, surrounded by greeneries and grey loungers.
