Opened in 2021, Graduate New York is the first and only hotel on the charming Roosevelt Island, United States. Located on the Cornell Tech Campus, the 4-star boutique hotel is situated inside a contemporary architecture, designed by renowned studio Snøhetta and Stonehill Taylor. The silver metal and bluish glass facade is nothing but sleek.
The Design
Unlike the monochromatic facade, the interior presents a playful and quirky aesthetic. You will discover different colourful decors that nicely complement the white and wooden space. As you enter the hotel, you will be greeted with a striking Flyboy sculpture designed by artist Hebru Brantley. Inspired by the university library, there is also a giant floor-to-ceiling bookshelf and a neon light sign that guides you to the elevator lobby.
The Rooms
Graduate Roosevelt Island, New York, boasts 224 well-appointed guest rooms and suites, including multiple accessible accommodations. Pets are also welcome inside the hotel (fees apply). They are designed with an old-school college charm alongside different contemporary and futuristic touches.
Inside the room, you will find intricate furnishing, comfy Serta bedding, a writing desk, Malin + Goetz toiletries, a TV, a mini-fridge, and complimentary internet access. Some rooms also feature a gorgeous view of the New York skyline.
If you are looking for something different, you can check out The Loft Suite, which can sleep up to six guests. Inspired by the classic ’80s movie “BIG.”, the spacious suite is packed with different games, plush, toys, and a real fortune-telling machine.
